“We booked next year again”

I would recommend this place to anyone. Nice cabins, excellent food, fantastic fishing. Megan and Andrew are the best hosts. We caught fish all day long for 4 straight days. Brought back our limit of walleyes and crappie. We’re booked for next year again. Will be our 4th year. Thanks Moonlite!!

Where is Saarela’s Moonlite Bay?

Saarela’s Moonlite Bay (Moonlite Bay Resort) is located on the island-filled Canadian side of Lake of the Woods in Northwestern Ontario. The lodge is situated near the community of Morson, Ontario. It is an island resort, meaning it is on a secluded island. The lodge is a boat-in fishing camp.

What role do fishing guides play?

How can I select my boat?

Saarela’s offers rental fishing rigs that include 16.5 foot Alumarine V-hull boats. These boats are designed for comfort and performance on the lake, featuring padded, swivel, shock absorbing seats. For power, guests have the choice of a reliable Yamaha 30 or 40 horsepower outboard motor. See more options.

How are fishing licenses managed?

Fishing licenses are among the items that are not included in the quoted rates for a stay at Saarela’s Moonlite Bay. The Service Ontario offers fishing licenses online or for sale at Gill’s Morson Marina, just across the boarder from Baudette.

Saarela’s Moonlite Bay Lodge is a family-run, boat-in operation on Little Raspberry Island near Morson, Ontario, on the Canadian side of Lake of the Woods.

We’re a smaller, personal place by design — five cabins, sheltered water close to camp, and the kind of local knowledge that turns a big, intimidating lake into a fishery you can actually read.

Getting Here

Getting here is part of the experience. You drive to the mainland landing, leave your vehicle, and we bring you across to the island — no fly-in cost, no figuring it out alone.

That’s the appeal of boat-in fishing cabins on Lake of the Woods: a genuine wilderness feel with comfortable, fully powered cabins waiting at the dock.

Because we sit near Morson, Ontario, you also get quick access to protected bays, rocky points, and reef structure that hold fish without a long run across open water.

Spring through fall, walleye fishing on Lake of the Woods is the reliable, all-day target that fills the cooler and the shore-lunch pan — and it’s why most groups come up.

Come September and October, musky fishing on Lake of the Woods takes over as the trophy chase, and a guided day with Drew Cohen is the fastest way to put yourself on the kind of fish that takes a decade to grow. Smallmouth bass, northern pike, and crappie round out a fishery deep enough to keep a mixed group happy all week.
