Squirrel Lodge, is our 1 bedroom cabin, with 4 beds. It is smaller than the rest, but don’t let that fool you, it is very comfortable and cozy. It is situated just above the dock area, a private deck and a spectacular view of the lake.
Squirrel Lodge is a one-bedroom cabin, equipped with two bunk beds and can sleep up to 4 people. It has a full bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen and still includes all our standard cabin features.
Inside Squirrel Lodge at Saarela’s Moonlite Bay
I wanted to share a quick walkthrough of Squirrel Lodge so you can get a real feel for the space before you arrive.
This video is simple, and that is what makes it useful.
You get to walk in through the front door, look around the cabin, see the kitchen, dining area, sitting space, sleeping areas, bathroom, front deck, barbecue, shoreline, and the docks down by the water.
It is the kind of video that answers the question people usually have before booking:
“What does the cabin actually look like?”
Walking Into Squirrel Lodge
The video starts outside at the entrance to Squirrel Lodge.
You can see the green cabin exterior, the white trim, and the screen door before stepping inside. Once the camera moves through the doorway, the cabin has that warm pine interior that feels familiar in a northern fishing lodge.
The walls and ceiling are finished in light knotty pine, and the space feels bright, clean, and practical.
It does not feel overdone.
It feels like a cabin built for people who plan to spend their time outside, then come back in to cook, eat, clean up, and rest.
Kitchen And Dining Space
The first area shown is the kitchen.
In the video, you can see white cabinets, a counter, a stainless sink under the window, a microwave, coffee maker, stove, and a tall white fridge and freezer.
That gives you a clear sense of how the cabin works for day-to-day use.
You have space to make coffee, keep groceries cold, wash dishes, and prepare simple meals during your stay.
The dining table sits beside a large window, which is one of my favorite parts of the walkthrough. From there, you can look out toward the resort property and the lake. That kind of view changes the whole feeling of a meal.
You are not just sitting at a table.
You are still connected to the water outside.
A Simple Living Area
The main room also has a comfortable sitting area with a dark blue couch and matching chair.
This is the kind of spot where you can sit down after being outside for the day, talk through the next morning’s plan, or just take a quiet few minutes before heading back out to the deck.
The layout is compact, but useful.
Everything is close together in a way that makes sense for a cabin stay.
Bunk Sleeping Areas
The walkthrough shows bunk sleeping spaces with wood-frame bunk beds, dressers, windows, and the same pine-wall cabin feel.
This is one of the details that matters for small groups.
When people are planning a fishing trip, they want to know where everyone is going to sleep, where bags can go, and whether the cabin layout feels manageable. The video helps answer that without making you guess from still photos.
The rooms look simple and functional, which is exactly what you want from a cabin that is meant to be a base for time on the lake.
Bathroom And Shower
The bathroom is shown clearly in the walkthrough.
You can see the toilet, vanity sink, mirror, and a clean walk-in shower stall with a curtain.
That is a small detail, but it is an important one.
A lot of people want the outdoor cabin experience, but they still want to know there is a proper bathroom and shower inside. This video gives that reassurance in a straightforward way.

Want To Picture Your Stay?
This video gives you a real look at Squirrel Lodge.
You can see the cabin, the deck, the barbecue, the shoreline, and the docks.
And that makes it easier to picture your own trip.

Stepping Back Outside
Near the end of the video, the camera moves back toward the front windows and then outside onto the deck.
This is where Squirrel Lodge really shows its setting.
You can see the lake from inside, then step out to the deck where there are outdoor chairs and a green barbecue. From there, the view opens up to the rocky shoreline, the water, and the docks nearby.
That final view is the part I would pay attention to.
It shows how close the cabin feels to the lakefront setting. You are not separated from the water. You are staying right in the middle of the lodge environment, with the shoreline just a short walk away.
