You leave your vehicle on the mainland, we bring you across the water, and you settle into one of five comfortable cabins with full electricity on a quiet island on the Canadian side of Lake of the Woods. It is built for anglers who want less pressure, reliable boats, local knowledge, and multi-species fishing without the cost and logistics of a fly-in trip.

Lake of the Woods is one of the largest multi-species fisheries in Northwestern Ontario, with thousands of islands, protected bays, rocky shorelines, weed beds, and submerged reefs. A lake that size can feel overwhelming on your own.
At Saarela’s Moonlite Bay Lodge you get an island base with sheltered water close to camp, rental boats rigged for the lake, and the option of a guided day with Drew Cohen when you want to learn the water faster.
This is a smaller, personal operation — not a sprawling resort.
That is the point.
Many of our guests have come back for years, and a few liked the place enough to buy their own cabins on the lake.

Fishing the Lake of the Woods — species at a glance
Lake of the Woods near Morson holds a strong multi-species fishery. The water around Saarela’s Moonlite Bay Lodge produces:
- Musky — trophy fish, with the fall stretch through September and October a prime window.
- Walleye — the volume species, strong from the spring opener through fall.
